Series of paintings on fabric stretched on collaged wood
Various sizes
A new series of shaped and tactile canvases using shaped and collaged wood as an image carrier. They have little irregularities in their shape or in their ‘flatness’. Each painting of this series has a grid, a regular tiling, sometimes very vivid and sometimes it moves to the background. It reflects on methods of organizing information, creating an overview: But what if someone or something doesn’t fit in any of the existing categories?
On all these paintings I literally sat down and drew the outline of my legs and ass on it. Dissociating the outline from my body, it becomes an odd, familiar but autonomous shape on the painting. All this refers to my ASS-diagnosis (autism spectrum storing/disorder) and therefore to neurodiversity, a difference in cognitive processes. Showing my "ass" could also be seen as an act of rebellion, and that I won’t define myself by external factors but just be myself.
