Sought by Shadows’, a series of multi-layered paper works, were created during my residency at ‘Thread’ in Sinthian, Senegal, hosted by the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
These layered pieces combine dense networks of painted lines with pyrography drawings, reflecting the fleeting impressions of light, texture, and structure that Mumm encountered in Senegal’s unique environment. The works evoke a meditative rhythm, where forms dissolve into an ungraspable, shimmering totality, challenging the viewer to perceive beyond the surface.
